I was the same a little while back, but more retarded cuz I'm from a finance background. It's actually really easy, open a vanguard or fidelity account and buy some index funds and you won't have to do shit, just watch your money grow. Maybe you have some finance friends to help you or you can find a lot of resources online.

Right now I'm just thinking of ideas before I start a business.

Looking to start a company dealing advising startups, to provide stable income. I was part of 4 startups during college, that's where most of the money has come from.

Maybe one day I will come across something worth pursuing myself.

I just opened a traditional this year, my tax rate is unacceptable
I max out my 401k match for this year and I intend to raise to maxing out the 401k next year

it would take me a decade to get the current money into an IRA and it's only growing because I live off $15/day
and I have $60k to lose
I'm ok with the risk in passive index fund retirement accounts
I'm not ok with dumping all that money into stocks with no goal or time horizon

another issue is getting access to those admiral share/spartan advantage funds I want, it takes two entire years just to get one into your IRA

Ever consider taking out a loan with that $60K to buy income property?

Not sure what your tax situation is, but you could deduct the mortgage interest and property tax.

Most people don't have $60K sitting around. Might be a good way to increase your net worth by leveraging the bank's money.

Hard to answer without a lot of qualifiers. And I'm not a Dr. obviously...

I've also spent almost my entire career working for managed-care companies @ general or critical care facilities so I can't speak about private practice.

There are such a wide range of practices and work environments that you can find a niche for yourself. You can work at a major Urban Trauma Center and see some shit, or at a suburban managed care hospital and hold people's hands. You can work in a rural area and be shocked by the level of drug abuse and lack of resources or in a Metropolitan University research hospital managing one or two complex cases a week.

People that suffer burnout often are 'stuck' for whatever reason in a particular situation and can't (or won't) change.

I know a couple of nurses that had to transfer from ICU or ER to Labor and Delivery to escape the mental grind of critical care. The difference between helping bring life into the world rather than keeping death at bay (and often failing).

>I work at a US West Coast Level 2 Trauma Center and moonlight at a suburban HMO infusion clinic.

Not him but being in the military pays reasonably well considering you can have literally zero living expenses as everything is provided by the military. So that $18,000/year can be pure savings, as opposed to somebody working full time at the grocery store making that same amount of money but most if not all of it going to living expenses.

This is certainly not to say it's a sweet gig; I sure as shit wouldn't want to do it.

I'm a plumber, but I inherited my father's plumbing business.

My family is very established here in San Francisco and we have always worked together and kept wealth in the family. I also didn't go to college so I have no student debt. This part of California has always had high real estate values and that comes from me inheriting my father's real estate/rental properties along with my grand mother's properties. So with the plumbing business and also looking for different ways of making money under the table this is how my family has accrued wealth. But helps that for example one house my grandmother bought was for 8K forty years ago now worth 1.9 million... And we are talking about shitty houses made of basically stucco and chicken wire. And the funny part is my family isn't even "rich' compared to many of the people here.

You just don't understand old money. The novelty of an aston martin wears off if your dad has been driving them ever since you can remember.

I'm not at all close to that guy's wealth. My parents are doctors with a total net worth of maybe 10M. But I'm perfectly ok with driving a skoda.
The only thing I kind of splurge on is the occasional high-end restaurant and a yearly holiday with my gf, neither of which I would ever display on social media.
Also since my parents are doctors and I'm in finance (they can't help me with connections) there's no advantage to people knowing I come from a relatively wealthy family. In my experience if people just view you as a regular guy trying to get ahead, you get more opportunities.

i got raped on kmi. bought at 24 and 20. that dividend is 100% going to get cut at least 50%. it needs to get its debt in order so it can refinance its short terms, not trip its covenant in the wake of lower oil, and pay off or refinance 2.4 bln in debt coming due in the next 2 quarters. it's going to be a rough time for a while, anon

I like your collection mate! Good choice getting into precious metals even if you got in a little high you will still be preserving your wealth in the long run. I know bitcoins are a little overrated around here but I would get a few just in case of gold confiscation. Great portfolio for a younger guy tho! I would also suggest buying some oil if it goes under $30-35 and a lot of it if it goes below $20-25.

Started my first company (construction company) when i was 17.
Got a job as a stock broker when I was 20.
Both parents died of cancer when I was 21-22 so I inherited roughly 350k cash
Bought real estate and flipped it starting age 22 with the guidance of my senior partner.
Opened a bar/restaurant when I was 23
Opened Gym when I was 26

Looking to start a car wash aswell, or buy a local one. All of my real estate and businesses are in/near the town I grew up in. I like to be ingrained in my community and pretty much every local business owner is a client of mine.

Hey anon, CPA working in big4 (east coast) here. If you're doing accounting you absolutely have to be graduating with 150 and a desire to immediately pass the CPA upon graduation or else the degree is kinda useless in this day and age.

Pretty much. Despite having made some good picks, I've sold at wrong times which is all that really matters.
>>
>>991784
It was inherited from my uncle who an hero in front of a truck with his tiny car.

I'm in the process of fully cataloging, organizing, and appraising. Then I have to find someone interested in buying. Estimates would bring it over ~400k but I'm willing to sell it all for less.

Hard to find an "appraisal" where it's "free" but they also make an offer, meaning they want it at a fraction of the value. Might hire someone just to sell them and give a commission. lol
