Who here works from their home? What do you do and how much do you make?
>>
>What do you do
Started my own business a few years ago. Mostly just answer emails and file paperwork.
>how much do you make
Depends each year. Last year €70k, this year €110k

Feels great to not be a wage slave.
>>
>>976643
>answer emails and file paperwork
I.. I could do that. What industry is it for?
>>
I play WoW all day.

Made $0 so far, in opportunity cost probably like -$35000 at least

I believe we have a board for that. It's called r9k.
>>
>>977604
>>977610
I help rich uni students transfer school and find them places to live outside of the campus. In my country it's a clusterfuck if you don't know anyone in the uni, so yeah.
It's about 5k per student.
>>
>>977618
Don't know why the ID changed.
>>
>>977617
>I believe we have a board for that. It's called r9k

But I hate /r9k/
>>
>>977618
That's a really good idea. What country are you in?
>>977620
Maybe because you last posted yesterday or something.
>>
>>977625
>What country are you in?
Since I have so little competition, I can't really answer. Generally from western europe to countries with cheaper, yet still good education.
>>
>>977633
Interesting. My country probably has the most expensive and one of the worst education systems of any first world country. Can you guess?
>>
>>977647
Canada?
>>
>>977649
Close.
>>
>>977647
Most expensive probably is america, but isn't it one of the best in terms of education?
>>
>>977652
If this is the best the world is fucked. Most college graduates barely even know how to tie their shoes .
>>
>>977651
Which then?

It's not America because it has the best universities in the world.
>>
>>977653
There's maybe a handful of universities that can compete with ivy league ones though. I've heard that most community or local colleges are bad though.
>>
>>977618
Whats your title? Transfer consultant?
>>
>>977656
Yes. Numerus clausus is a major issue here.
>>
>>977655
You make a good point.
>>
I work from home selling some stuff online. I make about $20 a week
>>
>>977668
What do you sell?
>>
I run a website that sells kneepads. Made $22k this month. Guess where my biggest costumer base is.
>>
>>977997
4chan?

>>
>>978005
it's /biz/

By the way, have you made or otherwise participated in any threads pertaining to making money in the last year? If so, I will assume you are in the market for some new kneepads, and I am prepared to offer you a one-time only deal on not one, not two, but THREE pairs of kneepads for the price of only ONE pair. Interested?
>>
Software developer (iOS applications).

Circa £30k (varies by ~15% per month) per month in revenue, after Apple's 30%. I pay myself a dividend every 3 months of £25,000. The rest is re-invested into the company, almost entirely going towards marketing, with about £400 per month going to Parse.

After taxes, this leaves me with around £75,000 a year. I feel like it's not too shabby, considering I'm 22 and only graduated from university (in a subject completely unrelated subject to what I do now - I got an LLB (2:1)) last November.
>>
>>978020
hey let me know when you're done daydreaming, I'm selling kneepads and I know you're in the need for some.
>>
>>978020

Might be worth adding that I was planning on being a corporate lawyer, but after a Vacation Scheme at one of the top 20 firms in the City I realised that it was actually incredibly boring and that I could make more money by working for myself making and selling mobile phone apps.

If I'd continued on that path, I would've had to spend one more year in law school taking the Legal Practice course (this would be paid for by the firm, but I would only receive around £8,000 from the firm for living expenses during this course) followed by a two-year training contract at the firm, where I'd be paid £40,000.

On qualification, I would've been paid £62,000 with a possible 5% bonus, depending on how many billables I managed to pull in. I would've been looking at spending around 70 hours at work on a typical week.

Now I 'work' around 20 hours a week. I put 'work' in inverted commas because it really doesn't feel like work at all. It feels like I'm playing a game.
>>
>>978026
What sort of apps do you make?
>>
>>978026

How long had you nurtured or developed the hobby or skills which you're now selling? Care to elaborate on this path of yours?
>>
Software Engineer, mainly embedded, some other niches.

I make about 8k a year, but considering I only work 2-3 days a month, it is pretty nice. I went this way, because I value time way, way over money, and this has the best work-payout ratio.

Nobody hires qualified people for 1 day a week or less. I have a hard time coming up with any job or venture that would give me the same amount of money with the same or less time spent.

> why are you on biz

I intend to retire altogether in five years. For this I invest everything extra, so that I can live fully off passive income.

> but you could be so rich

I know. Someone with my skills and qualifications would be making top 10% income, but no amount of money is worth slaving my life away.

> why don't you work hard for X time and retire earlier

I've suffered enough in my life. Going knee deep in work for a year or two would get me to my goal earlier, but that time would be so shitty it would not be worth living.

>>978020

Are they all your own apps, or do you subcontract / buy / reskin? How is the divide between ads, purchases, and in-app payments?
>>
>>978074
Going knee deep into work wouldn't be that bad with homeboy over here getting you a great deal on some kneepads. You achieve your goals faster AND no suicide.
>>
>>978074
And here I am wishing I could cut my main work to 20 hours a week. I take it you have many years in the field to pull that off. Do you do consulting or something?
>>
I work from home as a Nurse Case Manager, making around $58,000 a year. It's very nice not having someone breathing down your neck all day, but it's a busy job that takes a ton of self discipline, at times it gets old.
>>
I work at home as a Tier 2 support technician for a small IT company (20~ employee.) The bulk of our business is medical software hosting but we also do some Exchange email hosting and local support to some municipalities and medical offices.

Started for the company 3.5 years ago at 35k with no experience at the bottom of the totem pole. Back then we all worked in the office. Quickly moved up the rungs to where I am now making 60k. Base salary is 55k but make about an additional 5k a year between the Christmas bonus and working several on calls ($400/wk) through out the year.

We work from home T-F now because we downsized the office and it can't accommodate everyone at once. We go into the office on Mondays for meetings.
>>
>>978318
How did you get involved with this company?
>>
>What do you do?
Started my own business a few years as well.
answers emails and do face to face meetings with clients
>how much do you make
60k - 100k a year depending.

Feels great to not be a wage slave as well OP. :)

btw i live in the West Indies .

I've worked from home for the last 16 years. SEO, affiliate marketing, website sales.

How much I've earned has varied greatly over the years. My best year was 300k. I only made 50k last year and its time to find a new line of work. Pic related.
>>
>>978152

Yes, I have 10 years of C and C++ experience. I have two degrees, and code in various Open Source projects, including the Linux kernel and some system libraries.

Despite this, I'm actually pretty young, 25. I've been running my company like this since 2010, consulting and freelancing.

I buy low on eBay, sell high on Amazon using FBA. I use tools I developed to track and trend pricing and I use VA's to help me find items and make discounted group buys from sellers on eBay. I make $12k in profit a month, and pay myself extra depending on Q4 sales.
>>
I quit my job back in May to start trading futures. 21 still living with my Dad. Down $150 this morning. Can't believe it's only 9:40AM. Feels like it should be 1PM. I woke up at 5AM when I usually wake up around 8-9AM.

I heavily researched that last year and (besides being difficult to get the starting info) it seems like a terrible grind and big G can take away your birthday on a whim. Or show favoritism. Surprised the field isn't imploding. I'd like to hear what you are considering now.

I'd like to work from home.

I'm at a crossroads. What's a good idea for self-employment/remote work/telecommuting? I have a friend who's a CPA who hung up his own shingle and another friend who's a freelance site designer/uxd.
>>
>>980040
Can you elaborate more on your CPA friend ? That's kind of the boat I'm in

I've made organization that does anything online. I've started by myself, but now have tons of people who work and want to work for me.
Started at 500-600 for the first two months and the third month it doubled. After that it kept growing, but problems kept growing as well.
It's tough to manage a lot of people.
I also had partners in US since I offer partner programs and we would share a part of the wage. One guy from NY used to bring work but he moved and got a better job so he didn't have time for it anymore. It was around 200 usd per employee for him, he had 4.
Now i am relaxing a bit, but will start pay per click campaign again and get more jobs. Your personal workforce is the name of the org.
The most i needed people was cold calling, but no one wants to do that in the US for like $10 an hour or lower. In Philipines they do it for less, but their English is really bad
>>
>>977654

I do customer support and server monitoring for a mobile games company. Get 3days off a week as i make about 25000 USD a year.

It's an ok job but honestly the pay is shit
>>
I am an analyst at a PBM. I run claims tests for different clients, go to meetings, do general triage. Pretty versatile.

During december, the work load is closer to a regular job. Every other month though, I do an hour of work max a day, since I can do my loads so fast.

I make 80k.
>>

My brother, please give more info on this. I'm trying to get my mother into this type of work. Shes currently a hospice nurse with almost 30 years of nursing experience, including hospital managerial roles. Whats the best way for her to get into this? Living in Tampa. Thanks for your time.
>>
I draw furry porn for dosh.
>>
>tfw I could do my job from home with 100% efficiency on my company notebook with VPN, but have to go to the (open space) office so that others don't get salty

I'm in a 2 man "team" that is ran by a supervisor sitting in another country. All of our communication is virtual.

With that said, when I had 2 weeks of home office because of construction works on our office building, I could barely force myself to get out of bed at 10 AM and then I ended up working at 3 AM to make up for all the slacking off during the day. Shit requires discipline.
>>
>>978321

Late reply, but a friend got me in. I've always been a computer enthusiast, nerd, etc. so I had some technical knowledge but never had any training or advanced knowledge.

I only had a shitty worthless degree in Criminal Justice.

To put it simply I was just very lucky/fortunate.
>>
>>981288

FBA = Fulfillment by Amazon or Fulfilled by Amazon.

VA = Virtual Assistant.
>>
>>976486
I work as a pro masturbator and produce a whole load of grade A jizz, and considerably more grades B through F. There isn't much money in it tbqh.
>>
>>978074
8k?
really?
>>
>>981739

Absolutely this.
Whenever I have to telecommute (for whatever reason), I end up being half as productive as when I'm in the office.
I get distracted all the time by frivolous shit.
The fridge making that weird noise, maybe I need to change it actually.
Hey, I didn't water the flowers today! I better do.
Fancy a sandwich. I'll make a sandwich.
so on and so forth.

Something about actually GOING INTO A PLACE specifically to work, sets my brain in the mindset that I went through all the trouble of getting there because I need to get shit done.
>>
>>981739
Working from home is tough. I made the transition a few years ago.
First it started off small with listening to podcasts.
Then came casually watching TV.
Then came full movies.
Then came entire seasons of TV shows on Netflix.
Then came the hours and hours of pornography.
In the office I put in my full 8 hours but at home I'm lucky if I actually get 2 hours of work a day done.
>>
>>982571

kek I can see myself doing the same shit bro except throw in drinking beers and rum all day. Damn maybe I shouldn't work from home.

Anyone notice your decreased productivity?
>>
I was making $80-200/day online when I was in my final year of high school online until a month after I dropped out of uni (which I stayed in for like 3 weeks). Then I became a NEET for 6 or 7 months then returned to university. Still haven't found the motivation to return to online work but I'd like to someday.

I'm well connected with rich foreign students who could help me get clients. How do you get your clients? How did you start getting clients in the beginning? I imagine that after some time, it's mostly referrals.

I work from home doing remote computer support. I work for a company so I have a schedule and work 5 days a week for 40 hours a week. I make 45k a year based on my hourly pay. I have made between 50-52 every year since i started (3 years ago) due to periods of overtime where we might work 50-60 hours a week.

Additionally during downtime I do some freelance work building websites. Roughly speaking 10-15k a year depending how much effort I put into it.
