I'm 21 already. I've just turned my life around after a huge bought of depression in the past 3-5 years. I'm pretty much past that stage in my life except for a little niggle of it underlying here and there.

I've recently acquired a casual retail job and so far it's pretty great. I'm saving plenty of money. I don't do drugs, smoke cigarettes and I seldom drink, although I'm trying to completely cut that out of my life too.

I don't really know where I'm head in life career wise, but I've always liked the idea of owning my own business and working for myself. Being an entrepreneur I guess. Or otherwise work my way up a business and continue to grow from there.

All of my friends are too busy clubbing, getting fucked up and spending their money on drugs, so I kind of realised I'm in this for myself, and I can't rely on anyone else, because I'll probably be influenced to go and waste all my money on temporary highs and luxuries.

Really I'm just looking for any advice on how I can save faster, and things I can do to avoid spending money when I don't need to. I'd love to learn how to invest my money and make more on top.

I can't stand living at home with my parents, and I have an incredibly toxic relationship with my mother. I'm trying to progress in my life, yet I can't help but feel like I'm being held back from my parents who appear to be holding me back from maturing into a healthy, functioning adult.

I'm brand new to the board, and it seemed like a great place to get some advice.

tl;dr got out of depression, got casual job, would like to eventually work for myself, maybe be an entrepreneur, and want to save and move out into my own house as fast as possible.

I'm also from Australia. I don't know if that helps at all, but thought it might be worth mentioning.

nice quads

But good job pham. Just try to save up at least $5k or so before you move out.

The fees and buying shit for your new apartment are usually significant and can be a thousand or two since you need to pay first and last month, security deposit, other shit for your apt, etc.
>>
>>970005
Yeah, well I've got almost 3k right now, but I'm in debt to my parents about 2-3k. I'm going to slowly pay them off over time, but it is lingering over my head, and I'd preferably like to get it out of the way so I don't have to keep thinking about it.

My long term goal really is to own my own house. The thing is, I'm single, and even if I find myself in a relationship with a girl, I don't really see myself needing a large house. Anything with at least two bedrooms, a kitchen, small back yard etc would be fine with me. I don't give a shit about keeping up appearances to impress people, so I don't feel like I'd need to spend over 500k on a big fat house.

Suck dicks brah 10 dicks a day $10 each and you are ready to move out by the end of the month
>>
>>970009
Fuck owning a home.
That's a huge meme. Unless you buy it outright in cash and in select situations it's a waste of money.

Pay off your debt to your parents, save up some more money and skedaddle out of there my boy. You'll be better for it as reading from your post and what others have told me they found the ability to really find their path in life and mature as an adult when they moved out. It will help you, although it might be hard in the beginning since you're used to an easy life.
>>
>>970012
Funny guy!
>>
>>970014
>Unless you buy it outright in cash and in select situations it's a waste of money.

Buying is worth it more often than not
>have good credit
>live in a low COL area(read: not NYC, seattle, DC, SF, LA)
>be /diy/
>buy something modest
>fix it up
>mortgage on a 2br is $500/month or less

Throw in food and utilities and you are a bit under $1000/month for your own piece of land and a house.

The only exceptions are moving from city to city often, or living with family that steal your money or physically assault you. Toxic family members can be dealt with be keeping busy as much as possible outside the house and keeping your head down when at home. Stay at home as long as possible and sack away that dosh. Get your own house when you can make the down payment and can cover 6 months of expenses with savings.

Ok OP. Ive got this great plan right here for you. This plan will get you making money fast. Now you come off as a good kid to me, so im glad I get to share my secrets with you. Ive given many people this plan, and it has worked brilliantly, so I know you'll put it to good use.

Now I have to use a disclaimer. This plan does require some basic financial and practical skill. But its a detailed plan, right? Its formulated just for your type. The eager, young entrepreneur. And it works. You'll make some serious money. You'll be laughing in no time. This plan works. And the best part is that its also simple and easy. No complicated finances, stocks, bitcoins or any of that bullshit. Just pure simple work, with pure simple formula, and pure simple results.

Ok. So. I have calculated that if you perform oral fellatio on a penis for 1 dollar, you can earn 100 dollars just by orally fellating 0ne hundred penises!. 1000 penises, an you will one thousand dollars! Its so easy, yet so foolproof. Good luck on your journey

Stay at home as long as you can. Why spend money on rent and utilities when you don't have to.

Get a job in commission sales. I've found to be a great salesman you have to be a great person. Better yourself and income at the same time. Pay your parents off, save up 6 months for emergency money, open an index fund. Then start looking for a new place to live.
>>
>>969999
Listen up OP. The best way to save money is to get more money. For example on your way to work if you suck 10 dicks 1$ each you can make an easy 10$ extra per day. And if you suck 10 more dicks on your way back home you can double it.
>>
Are you just wanting to move out because of a poor relationship with your mom or do you want to move out due to muh independence? If it's the former, try to repair the relationship. I mean she's your mom for fucks sake. It can't be that difficult to get along.

I know I'll be called a manchild, but I'm a near 25 year old accountant who still lives at home. Why pay some Jew's Ferrari off in rent when you don't have to?
>>

>I know I'll be called a manchild, but I'm a near 25 year old accountant who still lives at home. Why pay some Jew's Ferrari off in rent when you don't have to?

Because it's called becoming an adult.

How can you honestly be a grown man still living with your parents? It makes no sense to me. Most parents and kids don't see eye-to-eye on things as they get older, and parents being parents will try to push their "My House My Rules" on you, also how do you bring over hunnies to bang? Awkward af if your parents are in the other room trying to get to sleep.

it just doesn't work faam.
>>
>>970078
OP, consider what this person is saying. Not only will you be making a fuckload more money by being in sales but also you will meet a lot of interesting people whom will sometimes have the same vision as you.

You might wanna consider staying with your folks till your financially stable. More positive cash flow;however I don't know the situation over there and I'm only saying this because of purely financial reasons.

Best Regards,
Someone who was in your position not to long ago.

>Because it's called becoming an adult.
You do realize most people in countries other than America live with their parents well into their 30s, right?

>How can you honestly be a grown man still living with your parents? It makes no sense to me.
Why not? It's mutually beneficial to both of us. I help around the house and pay a few bills (cable, water, etc.). I, in turn, get to keep most of my paycheck in savings, investments or on whatever the fuck I want to spend it on. We both keep each other company.

>Most parents and kids don't see eye-to-eye on things as they get older
Huh? My parents and I get along well. It's not much different than living with any other adults. Are you some antisocial reject who can't get along with your fellow human beings?

>parents being parents will try to push their "My House My Rules" on you
You must have shitty parents, then. My parents treat me as another adult living in the house.

>also how do you bring over hunnies to bang?
Only good point you've made. Haven't had sex since college desu, but hey, it is what it is. Take the good with the bad and if I eventually want it bad enough, I'll go visit an escort. If I eventually meet a decent woman, maybe I'll move out. But until then, I'll enjoy the easy life.

>it just doesn't work faam.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Hey, the first of the month is coming up. You got that rent or mortgage payment ready, bro? Mr. Goldstein is looking for his money. As for my up-coming paycheck, I think I'll buy myself a ticket to a cruise. Feels good having tons of disposable cash.

>>Because it's called becoming an adult.
>You do realize most people in countries other than America live with their parents well into their 30s, right?
Yes because they're poor and can't afford to move out. If you can it is autistic not to.

I'd rather spend a bit extra instead of being a kike to experience freedom and do shit as I wish to. Especially since myself, OP and many others have identified our parents as holding us back.

>>Most parents and kids don't see eye-to-eye on things as they get older
>Huh? My parents and I get along well. It's not much different than living with any other adults. Are you some antisocial reject who can't get along with your fellow human beings?
It is quite different. Because on the one hand you're an adult who has his own opinions and views, and on the other you're their child living in this house. In many peoples cases this reduces their freedom. Especially when they hold you back.

>>parents being parents will try to push their "My House My Rules" on you
>You must have shitty parents, then. My parents treat me as another adult living in the house.
I do but that's besides the point, you mustve gotten lucky.

>>it just doesn't work faam.

Congrats but I as many others would be worse for it living with our parents. Spending a little bit of money in this case is acceptable.
>>
>>970124
I wholeheartedly agree. I'm working on my second bachelor's and am living with my father. We have a great arrangement and my entire paycheck goes to saving for college. I'm actually hoping to start a co-op in town and will live here for years if possible.

I'm still young enough that I'm able to bring girls over and fuck them without them being weirded out that I live at home. Win-win man
>>
Saving isnt the right way to go. Investing is. I put half my money in mutual funds and the rest I use for spending. If you have spare time, read up on stocks and try trading. Other than that good luck to you. Keep on the grind and remember being an entrepreneur has to be your ultimate goal.
>>
>>970127
>Yes because they're poor and can't afford to move out. If you can it is autistic not to.
No, not really. It's because they aren't retards who can't get along with their parents or retards who buy into the "muh independence" scam.

>I'd rather spend a bit extra instead of being a kike to experience freedom and do shit as I wish to
The irony in this statement is that I'm actually the one with freedom and you're not. If I walk into my job tomorrow and my boss starts yelling at me, I have all the power to tell him to fuck off because I have very little financial obligation. Do you have the freedom to walk off the job? Oh yeah, nevermind, you got bills to pay. Oh well, you gotta stick it out for months while you apply rigorously to other companies. Do you have the freedom to go enjoy what you want? Well, I know you really wanted to go take a trip to the Grand Canyon, but after all your bills, you only have $50 left. Don't worry, I'll enjoy it for you! And if I really went Jew, I could save enough to retire by my late 30s or early 40s. Do you have the same freedom? Well, with your 30 year mortgage, girlfriend and eventual kids, it doesn't seem likely. You may have the freedom to retire by 70 if you work a lot of overtime! Don't worry...only 50 more years of intense labor until your free!

>Spending a little bit of money in this case is acceptable.
You're right. You the winner here. You are the big responsible adult and I am the manchild. Better get some sleep there, buddy. You, unlike me, need the paycheck for bills and can't afford to be fired to under-performance on the job.
>>
>>970137
This reads exactly like one of those "wagekek" /r9k/ meme threads.

>after all your bills you only have $50 left
Where are you getting this from? Some people have a high paying job where they can afford $1.5k/month rent for a nice apartment. That's obviously not about you though.

>with your 30 year mortgage, girlfriend and eventual kids
Again, is this what you assume everyone must have in order to make yourself feel better?

Because I don't have any of those. Cozy apartment in city center, in a good area mind you. No girlfriend and I never plan on having kids. Not sure why you're strawmanning to defend your manchild choices though.
>>
>>970115
That's not even OP. I disappeared because everyone kept giving me dick sucking answers. I'm back now though.
>>
>>970130
Thanks for that bit of advice.
>>
>>970127
>identified our parents as holding us back
I really do feel that way. Even to the point of other adults not respecting me as much as an adult because my parents won't let me flourish. Moving out I feel will grant me that respect. Although my parents should stay out of my private life regardless.
>>
>>970228
Your parents aren't stopping you. You're only working casual. Hurry the fuck up and get another job. You still have much more room for improvement. A 21 year old with a single casual job is nothing close to respect worthy. Living at home whilst on such a low income is more respectable than moving out on a single casual job.
>>
>>970228
Go for it faam. Move the heck out when you saved enough and got a stable job.
>>
>>969999
I am going to agree with both responses as to whether you should move out or not. Really, you have to weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision as to what is best for you, then stick with your choice.

You can definitely cut a ton of living expenses by staying with your parents. Financially it is always the best option to lower your overhead as much as you can so you can save and invest. Since you have never lived on your own before you really don't have much of an idea how even little costs can add up. For example, have you ever bought your own toilet paper before? It is a good idea to sit down and create a spreadsheet that calculates every cost that you can think of that you are saving by living at home (rent, food, utilities, hygiene items, internet... etc). Then when you have that calculated, add another 20% for unforeseen living expenses because they will come up.

I fully understand the reasoning behind wanting to get out of the house. I also had a toxic relationship with my mother and would have paid anything for peace of mind. Your sanity is valuable and should be preserved. Otherwise, that toxicity will bleed into and affect your work, your social life, and every positive experience that you have. Sometimes it takes moving out in order to reconcile and mend that broken relationship. Good luck, bro. You will figure out what is best for you.
>>
>>970613
>For example, have you ever bought your own toilet paper before?

This is easy, just steal those industrial rolls from Mall washrooms or wherever.

Food you can go to all you can eat buffet and shovel it into your own tupperwar when no one's looking. etc etc, with a little careful planning you can live like a mega-jew
