Yes utility functions (Calculating the utility you gain from items/services you name it).

The basic moduls and functions are not good enough to describe utility gained from every item combined etc.

Yes, its time same thing with indifference curves. You can see which curve is preffered but not how much better one curve is relative to another. Microeconomics 101
