Good move bros?
>>
I am not qualified to know about petroleum, but I am interested in why they are so far down when their earnings don't look awful
>>
idk i think its cuz oil prices just dropped but ft says theyll grow 200% in the next year, apparently theyll get back to 10
>>
I took a bit of a look at their 10Q and the overall situation - bad growth in China, strengthening USD, it honestly doesn't look like too bad of a move. I'm gonna get in on this as well
>>
Sadly, I don't think oil has come close to bottoming.
I got stocks in junior oil and gas companies with good financials, but they just tanked the last few weeks.
>>
>>575439
I also don't think it's going to bottom soon, but given human nature, a war or something will break out sooner or later -_-

Also, >>575439, what stocks
>>
>>575441
RMP Energy (RMP.TO)
Tamarack Valley Energy (TVE.V)
Delphi Energy (DEE.TO)

Shit just went down a cliff since October, wiped out all of my gains. I pulled out

>>
fuck i lost ten percent
>>
>>575479
You're not going to earn your gains back today.

Also I just bought some RUSS for a short term offset <_<
>>
i dont necessarily think cheap oil is a terrible problem for oil companies. They sell a shitload of oil. Oil decreases fuel the economy and everyone makes a shit ton of money
>>
>>575489
cheap oil is a terrible problem for short term futures contracts, and when nobody buys oil, a lot of infrastructure sits around incurring costs.
>>
So it turns out I'm up 12% on buying this yesterday; I cashed out of RUSS early for a meager gain but I'm up $1200 so far on TPLM.
>>
I bought into SSO, a 200% levered S&P500 ETF, a few days ago.

As luck would have it, the S&P 500 seems to be experiencing a downturn since I bought in last Friday.

I'm thinking about pulling out. I've already lost something like 3.5% and all this volatility isn't good for my returns, even when they do come about.

RUSS is having another banner day today but is probably not going to do much good; NBG is kill; now is probably a good time to load up on blue chips unless you think this is the beginning of the end. Which it isn't.
>>
why not just buy oil with uso? That's what i did.
>>
I hope you're still holding, OP.

>tfw considered buying in $1.00 ago

fuck, coulda sold it by now and made a decent amount for the weekend.
>>
>>576643
so weird that some random stock mentioned here goes up 30% in one day.
>>
Op here, you better believe I held. I'm in in this one for the long (1-2 years) made 36% today!!
>>
>>576690
Not that weird at all.

First off, look at the stock's volatility over the past week. Second, there are other stocks and tradable securities that have me 50%+ gains today.
>>
Oh my god it keeps on going. I just knew it wouldn't go much lower then 3.50 lookin at its historical lowest price like 5 years ago. Since then the company added a bunch of value to its stock, it's simply undervalued. I just wish I got in at 3.15 and not 3.45. Still though 50 % today woohh!
>>
>>576716
I got in at $3.32 on your advice, if you're ever in Silicon Valley I owe you a beer
>>
>>576734
>>576716
I'm so jelly of you guys. I considered buying in at 3.65. Should have done it.
>>
Yeaaaaaaaaaaa hell yea man nice im pumped for you.... I am in the process of graduating and then moving there, looking for a job, u got one of those?? I'll take the beer nonetheless
>>
>>576745
OP, can you describe the decision making process that went into picking up that stock this morning?

TPLM is my price range
>>
I'm not a software engineer but I wish I was. Graduating in the spring with bs in economics and business management. I will learn anything though I swear it.
>>
>>576761
You seem cool OP, if you want to chat or something my email is teleolurian AT gmail

> posting your email on a transylvanian dam fetish board
>>
Decision making was but low sell high. Knew it wasn't gonna get much lower, tried to buy in as low as possible. I know it will eventually pay off, what happened today is just luck quick spike, I hope that continues or a year or so then I triple my money. Also I did tons I analysis on stock I think it's undervalued and see a goo future
>>
>>576767
I'm honestly considering selling it short right now. I don't think it'll be above $4.15 by next week.
>>
Hey teleolorioun I feel ya on leaving ur email out. Good to know you down to chat. I'll get at you soon, dlavigne92 is me
>>
>>576772
I think it will be higher than that, though, when another middle eastern war/OPEC meeting/BRIC expansion happens.
>>
>>576783
Over the long-run, sure.

But in the long-run, friend, we are all dead.
>>
>>576786
The next OPEC oil meeting is in 6 months though, and then they'll be dialing down production. Although it's possible Russia might expand capacity in the short term.
Too many variables to factor independently, but it seems a safer long-term bet than most.
Also I really don't want to add more income taxes this year, so if I can hold into January at least I'll be happy.
