thinking of entering either a quant or high level finance related field, will math degrees get me there and what else do I need to know that isn't a part of my degree?

I think my school is a target school (UNSW, go8 in aus). Does this mean I have a good chance of breaking into the industry and then getting the firm to finance my masters? Do I even need the masters?
