Can I 1-up you? I have just over 4 bitcoin in a wallet that I forgot the password to. I used to have passwords for all bitcoin and shady illegial stuff written down in a book. Decided to quit doing that stuff a couple years ago and I destroyed the book. Totally forgot the password to my bitcoin was in there and only realised like a year later. At the time it was all worth maybe 1k so I was upset but not the end of the world. But now its worth a fuck load of money and theres no chance I can get it back.
I cant bring myself to delete the wallet.

Why not crack the password?
>>3508745
Im sure it will randomly come to you someday if you keep thinking about it.
>>3508757
is this possible? having a random generator for a private key,
how long would that even take? decades probably
>>3508745
Did you choose an impossible to remember password or one with words and letter combos you know?
>>3508757
I tried.
I even solicited a Daves wallet recovery services https://walletrecoveryservices.com/
Gave them a comprehensive list of everything that could have been in the password based on what I remembered. About 3 months later they got back to me saying they tried a few million combinations and no luck. So I'm that's pretty much all I can do.
It was a long password so pure brute force is impossible.

You can't crack a password with a long length but if it has words you remember you can make a big word list to try crack it with
>>3508703
Did you at least backup the JSON file somewhere?
>>3508762
Nah. Ive thought about it for years now. Even got a team of recovery specialists on it and they couldn't crack it in 3 months (I posted about this with more detail above)
>>3508804
they probably cracked it in the first 3 minutes and kept it
>>3508815
lol I know you joke but its still in my wallet so no.
They take 20% of what they recover so they are making absolute bank and its not worth them stealing.

The Universe will cease to exist before a random generator is able to find the key.
>>3508703
That's why you need to tattoo your private key under your balls anon

Thank you for reducing the supply and making mine more valuable.
