Inflation is reported at 1.7% or lower this year but my food got over 10% more expensive compared to last year. How can that be? Am I buying food from the only stores in the country that raise prices like there’s no tomorrow? Is food inflation much higher than average inflation? What brings inflation down when prices of food are going up? Am I just getting gaslighted and low inflation rates are a lie?

When the inflationrate is calculated a number of goods are counted in every year.
I read in an economics book once that governments sometimes ''cherry-pick'' the goods used in the calculation so that it looks like the inflation is low while it's actually around 7 % normally (according to the book i read). the book was called ''how to own the world''

Wow. It's almost as if.....almost as if they are lying about what the rate actually is. They wouldn't lie about something so serious would they? Not our honest government.

>What brings inflation down
Inflation is managed by the FED using supply-side economic theory, meaning they manipulate the $ supply. The FED's current target rate for inflation is under 2%. Unless something really bad happens, inflation will not go over 2%. Inflation will be whatever the FED wants it to be as long as they have the money to print.
Other things factor into food prices. Notably, energy costs. Trade inefficiencies are a huge one too. Also think about the wagecucks crying about their $15 minimum wage. You're going to pay for it.

>thinks inflation is reported accurately and honestly
newsflash OP, if inflation were honestly reported, there would be riots in the streets and bankers hanging from lamp posts
