The problem is that bitcoin is literally nothing but an object of speculation. The rules are weird. The market isn't trying to figure out the real value of something because there isn't something with value to begin with. It's just an object of speculation so it reflects investor optimism in the value of bitcoin, nothing more and nothing less. This means that the media has a pretty big influence on things and if the media says the dip will continue, people will continue to think they should cash out while they can. I think smart influential people have learned they can make predictions about the price of bitcoin and if they make them loudly enough and with enough conviction they will come true because people will believe and they will react according to the prediction in the media.
