Rate my /biz/ idea

App where you pay hourly to get company / cuddles from a qt boy / girl
isn't necessarily sexual / intimate, some might just want someone to talk to

Users go through catalogue of "Pals" (placeholder name)
looking for someone they find attractive / have common interests with

eg:
>lonely cat lady who's been single for 3 years wants some company
>wants a guy who's interested in poetry / classical music / etc
>finds someone attractive / with similar interests
>user can briefly talk to Pal beforehand to explain exactly what they want
>pays for 3 hours of cuddling

There would be different options to choose from, inc but not limited to:
>cuddling (most expensive option)
>cuddling during movie (cheaper cus Pal wouldn't have to talk at all)
>chat / meet up (moderate pricing)
>hug (cheapest)

Like Uber, both the user and the Pal can be rated
Pals with higher ratings would eventually be paid more money p/h

What does /biz think?
I appreciate constructive criticism

The reason I think there's a market for this,
is because in developed countries:

>disposable income is going up

while

>avg number of close friends is going down
>many are casually fucking instead of dating
>or aren't getting any love at all

So a lot of people have plenty of money to spend on companionship
>>
Pretty sure idea has been done before.

Similar things have been done, yes,
but they have all been very unambitious / not monetized

Example:

https://www.cuddlecomfort.com/

This is a free meetup service,
which means that there's no motivation for anyone that attractive to get on there

>why would a 6+/10 go on this site when they could probably meet someone easily on Tinder
>if an attractive person did go on this site, they wouldn't want to meet with te ugliest people on the service
>which are the users in most need of company

That's one example, there was another one which had an app, called Cuddlr / Spoonr
which again, was a meetup app.

If the service was monetized,
then it means background checks can be performed,
and proper systems can be put in place to keep creeps off the site
(rating systems as mentioned above)

I have found one service similar to what i proposed,
but it seemed to have almost no investment behind it, check out the website design

>$80 an hour, unreasonably high considering how little work goes into it
>>
what are your plans on making it less awkward?
>>
>>3458854
We could encourage attractive / confident people to sign up to be Pals,
so the customers don't need to worry about leading the conversation

It would be like Uber rides, Tinder dates, or prostitution
some awkwardness is to be expected,
but ultimately shouldn't get in the way if the service is good
>>
>>3458895

tinder, uber and prostitution do not even come close to the amount of awkwardness you have in your idea

nobody wants to be seen as a loser who has no friends.
i think your success will solely revolve around how good you can make it seem that being pals on that app is not equivalent to being a social outcast who has no friends and needs to use the app to get any contact with the outside world.

>tinder, uber and prostitution do not even come close

that's debatable, especially for prostitution

the client would be worried about
>being seen as a virgin loser who's never managed to get laid
>not knowing what to do
>whether they cum too early / therefore not getting full value for their money
>catching a disease, but not wanting to ask about it

as for Tinder, actual dates are generally awkward as fuck
because going from texting to irl conversation is a big jump
especially because both people are worried about
>making a good enough impression to take the relationship further
>being funny, interesting, looking their absolute best

since it's a person to person relationship, it's a lot easier to come off weird
because you're being judged as potential relationship material

in a client to paid companion relationship, there's a lot more understanding there

the companion knows in advance that the reason they're being paid
is because the client is too awkward / busy to find companionship themselves
I need to clarify

Pals are the people who sign up to make money from giving companionship.
They get paid hourly, and the app takes a % of their income.

Users are the ones who are seeking / paying for companionship

How it would work is:

Users can only search for Pals, not vice versa.

Pals don't have to worry about being judged because Users are literally signing up to pay for companionship
Therefore Users are in 0 position to be judgemental

Users won't need to worry about being judged, as the Pal isn't looking at them in terms of potential relationship material
Pals just want to do a good job and get paid

and since Users can't search for other Users,
and Pals only see Users when a booking is requested,
they don't have to worry about being found by anyone in a position to judge

People would be raped and your app would be blamed

everyone using the app would be wary of doing anything illegal
given that their photo / credit card details are required for joining
(allowing for easy identification / prosecution)

Besides, you could say the exact same shit about Uber
>people would be raped
>cars would be hijacked

or AirBnB
>belongs would be stolen
>houses will be destroyed

aNd yOuR aPp wOuLd Be bLaMeD

yet those 2 companies with obvious risks are now worth tens of billions of dollars
>>
h-how much would it cost?
>>
>>3460457
>>3460457
honestly idk exactly how I'd price it,

because even the highest tier service would be easier than most min wage jobs

I'm thinking somewhere in the range of $15-60 an hour
depending on the service / Pal ranking that the User chose

(an avg looking girl wouldn't earn as much as a 8-9/10 qt)

and Users would get a cheaper per-hour price if they choose a longer service

eg:
if someone only wants 1 hour of hugging / talking / etc ,
then it'll cost slightly more per hour than if they selected 3+ hours

because the Pal has to deal with transportation and such

what do you think would be a fair price p/h for:

>talking about common interests
>cuddling during a movie
>going out to lunch

(with a normal looking girl)
>>
>>3460677
For one night of cuddling, let's say 11pm to 8am, I'd pay $200
>>
>>3460824
ok awesome,
it's good to hear a potential / hypothetical user's view on pricing

how regularly do you think you would do something like that?
>>
>>3458627
already exists.
>>
>>3461068
I'm aware similar concepts have been tried, but from what I've seen they've all failed

Or is there a company doing this that's thriving?
If so, I'd love to know
>>
Already exists in China. There's an app called rent me. Girls usually charge 40 to 1000 an hour.

When I was in China, I did meet up with a few girls and they were okay. In all seriousness, this is a good enough idea and I would use it just to meet randos.
>>
>>3461152
>>3461156
great! thanks, I'll look into these

shows that the market has already been somewhat proven
>>
>>3461038
once a week I guess? I'd probably use it to alleviate depression and as a stepping stool to a real gf.
>>
>>3461268
ok, it'd probably have a discount system for long time customers

or a free service once every 20 times or something
>>
>>3461156
Christ that's so fucking pathetic.
