Hi /biz/
I've been pretty sheltered and my parents are borderline iq/very poor/etc, so I never learned much about money other than work. (super long story, mostly just mental illness/dysfunction/etc) Wondering what I should read up on. I've got 3k saved for a car (something no one in my entire family has..) in my savings, and got a secured CC to build credit until I get an unsecured one. Should I just buy a car with what I have saved, or should I make payments to build credit. I'm saving around 2k to have a safety net for when I move across the country. Just stash it in a savings account or do I have other options?
Once I have enough saved and proper credit should I go the route of paying down deposit and payments on a mortgage, rent to own, I have no clue lmao. Any advice appreciated.

Buy a shitbox in cash if you need to buy a car. If you can get away without a car for now it's probably better since they cost quite a bit to keep running

I don't need one for my current work but this job is boring and my social life is suffering from it so I'm thinking about just dropping 3k or so on a reliable cost efficient car. I don't know much about cars either but I've been recommended by a few people to go for an accord/cicic/camry.
