I don't think he will shaft me but I want to develop this idea as a team with my boss within a new company. I see myself heading towards a business strategy role.

For someone in mid-management with a view to move towards 'business strategy' (I assume this means executive leadership?), you certainly don't demonstrate fundamental skills.

For example, consider what you're asking. "What are good concepts worth?". Just think about that.

Then consider the follow-on question. "What should I ask for/expect in the way of shareholder control?". What do you think? If this question means 'will the business' shareholders be okay with lending me $2M for an idea', what do you fucking think? It entirely depends on your business case. If you just got a gold-mine to sign a $500,000,000 contract and they've put that money in your bank, and you need $2M to procure a piece of software which will save $10M in resourcing costs, then of course they'll be happy to (most likely).

If you say 'Hey I have this cool idea which I have no technical understanding of how to implement, but here goes' and just shoot for it with no business case, risk assessment, impact analysis, project management plan, expected ROI or anything else; then expect nothing.

Tl;dr

I understand where you are coming from, however, I also know people don't read huge slabs of text on 4chan unless there is something very unique to contribute.

As I said in my post, our business already has part of the means of implementation. I also made the assumption that the resources weren't going to be the issue.

I am going to explain it in an easier way for you.

Someone in the company comes up with an idea that the company pursues.

After the idea is presented, that person contributes 3-5% to the rest of the project but 0% of the resources.

Most of the crucial work will be preformed but data analysts and developers.
