Whats the best way to exchange currencies without getting raped by fees?

Currently using shapeshift.io for this stuff. I have 60 ETH, but I want to spread my shit out. I want to do something like 45ETH, .7 BTC, and like 10 XMR or something like that.

One more question, is this wallet set up secure:

Will that keep my XMR secure or should I take even more steps? Fucking trezor doesn't support XMR so I cant just put it on my trezor

What are maker fees? And gdax is cheaper than coinbase? Theyre owned by the same person. Can I login with the same account?
