if the government had control of a crypto currency (such as bitcoin) it would completely defeat the entire purpose of why bitcoin was created in the first place.

The whole purpose is to decentralize the centralized. To take power away from the powerful. To give the people a seat at the table. To create something big banks and government institutions cannot take control of and have the control be in the hands of the people. That is the WHOLE POINT OF CRYPTO
