Right now the value of bitcoin is that you can fairly easily buy it with fiat and then trade it for other altcoins that you can't easily buy with fiat.

Not really. There's barely 200k people with any significant amount of bitcoin, and they own almost all the bitcoin. Something like 60k people own 70% of all bitcoin. They're just very manipulative psychos who keep hyping it with nonsense like it will be worth $500k or whatever number they pull out of their ass. Then they respond with shit like "Oh haha you said it would never be worth 1k and look at it now, obviously $1000000000000 per bitcoin is possible, use some logic dummy"
