Let this be a lesson.

In 2013 I was going crazy with mining on a crappy gaming PC.

Had about 3.5 LTC and 0.2 BTC. Once BTC crashed, I got over it - figured it was done. ~$1200 or so worth.

Started getting back into crypto this June. Have already more than doubled my money since starting in June.

For the 2013 coins, I figured I'd never get the private keys. Made the mistake on hosting it on my companies Drive account - where I no longer work.

Yesterday, found my old Laptop. Booted it up. Found the keys. YES!!!!

Open the wallets. Locked. Can't remember the password. Found some open source password cracker, fed it some words I'm pretty sure I used. It's now gone through 10+ billion password combos and counting.

RIP 0.2 BTC and 3.5 LTC.

I also have my MOON, WDC (World Coin), REDD, MINT, DOGE, and a bunch of other coins not worth the time to collect the $100 or so they are all worth now.

Backup ur shit, store the keys/mnemonics in a safe place. Dont host shit on your work emails/Drives.

I had already considered these lost, so if I can't recover, oh well.

I now use trezor.

actually, now at 19 billion password combos tried on the private key. I fed it a list of 30 or so words that I probably used as part of a PW back then, it's putting them together in different combos trying to crack my private key.

You only need the private keys and no password anon. Just import them to anythe wallet.

used MultiBit Classic wallet. Was was passworded. I have the wallet file. Passworded.This was before mnemonics

I can also import the private key, but it shares the password of the wallet. This is how MultiBit did things. They got acquired by KeepKey and multibit classic is no more.

PSA: KeepKey version of multibit locked my btc up in crypto limbo. Bitcoins were there, but always unavailable even after recover/repair. Had to send the wallet file to the old dev of multibit and he luckily didn't steal my bitcoin but sent them back to me. Stay away from multibit HD. Read their forum of others having this problem.
