Is affiliate marketing worth it or a trap?

Not really that feasible anymore if you're looking to become a publisher. Returns not great and Google is smart enough to know if you're trying to jig system by starting 100 niche sites (long tail sites were a thing back in 1999).
It's only good for advertisers with products, basically sending some scraps towards Asian bottom feeders in exchange for sales.

Haven't had much experience with it, but with amazon becoming a giant coorperation, I think it will become more popular. Don't take my word on it though.

Also, one other note: if people are truly still getting rich off it, why does every single "award winning" affiliate marketer end up having to package and sell a how-to product? Because they're not successful of rich. Screw95 = crap.
