Eurofag here who didn't have to pay for University (except around 500€ general fee per semester). Rather small town means very low cost of living even if your apartment is really central. Don't have to own a car since I can reach every important place on foot.
Got a 75% job at Uni after graduating (IT MSc) which didn't pay that well but left enough time to pursue side jobs, write a PhD thesis and cook my own (cheap but healthy) meals. Well, and obsessing over crypto, of course.
I actually mined one Bitcoin on my GPU in 2011, but stopped after that because the power was more expensive than the BTC price at that time. Bought a few more at €65, but sold at €100 because I was worried that the bubble would burst soon.

Stock market is at all time high. What the hell am I supposed to do with it?
I figured I'd save to $100k and then quit my job (because it is boring and I feel like my coworkers are all smarter than me and just haven't realized I'm an idiot yet which makes me worry all day) and move to some cheap shithole college town where I can pay $500/mo to live with 3 college student roommates in a roach-infested shack while I make a mobile gatcha game like Fire Emblem and use the money to pay artists to create the music and character portraits but then fucking Fire Emblem Heroes came out and there's a precisely 0% chance anyone would play my ripoff so with $86k saved I threw $66k into crypto two weeks ago and it has gone up to $80k since then, though I've sold a few times and probably owe the IRS around $7-8k at this point. I got paid on Friday so my $20k remaining in the bank became like $22.5k or something.
I work as a software engineer at one of Apple/Amazon/Facebook/Google/Microsoft/Netflix/Uber. I feel like, the company I work for will give me the opportunity to retire very comfortably within the next 10-15 years if I completely skip on crypto but I can instead risk two years of my savings to maybe retire within the next two years instead. I don't depend on that money to live anyway and I don't know how long it will take for the current stock and bond bubble to pop but I don't want to dump my entire savings into the stock market for 7% annual gains right before a correction. Dumping into crypto and maybe getting 10x before a correction sounds much more appealing.
>>3231730
I'm actually thinking about dumping the rest of my savings in crypto till I only have $9k (3 months of rent as emergency fund) in the bank and then dump my entire $59k of 401k into crypto, too. But... on the other hand, maybe if I only stay 50% crypto, I will limit my downside to the point where I can still retire in 10-15 years even if cryptos go to 0 forever, and still have a chance of retiring in two years if cryptos moon with my initial $66k. My income is about $5k per month from salary and $2.5k per month from vesting RSUs, though I'll get 3 vests in December. Tempted to just dump all that (after rent + other living expenses) into crypto as it comes in, too.
>>3231730
>I don't want to dump my entire savings into the stock market for 7% annual gains right before a correction. Dumping into crypto and maybe getting 10x before a correction sounds much more appealing.
I mean... Has bitcoin ever crashed to 10% of its price and taken five years to recover? No. I think the worst post-spike crash was to like 30% of its value. If I spend my life savings on bitcoin and it goes up 10x before getting cut down to 1/3, then I still came out way of the stock market, where it might go up by 7% and then crash down to 60%, only to take another 7-8 years to recover.
Going all-in on crypto sounds stupid as fuck until I consider that going all-in on the stock market (through vanguard mutual funds because picking individual stocks is even more stupid than chasing whale pumps) during an all-time high is even more stupid.
We're in uncharted territory with crypto. We will see a crash but there are quite a few things that could still raise market caps by 10x or more within the next couple years. If that happens first then the crash is worth it.
On the other hand, we've been here before with the stock market. There's nothing that will make it 10x in the next couple years and lots of things that could make it 0.6x.
