Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market is extremely illiquid, and yet the volatility of prices are absolutely fucking insane that allows 100 - 200% gains in mere DAYS.
How is this possible in an illiquid market? The stock and forex market is very liquid (more buyers and sellers), and yet the gains there are absolutely pathetic - you'd be lucky to make 2% in a week, maybe 10% if its a black swan.
>pic unrelated, but if anyone can shop that book she's holding to bitcoin, much appreciated

how are altcoins illiquid
you're confusing liquidity with volume

You can easily sell/buy millions worth of BTC/ETH without moving the market. How is that illiquid?

I think it has to do with how extremely over-levered the legacy finalcial system is, all the way from the labyrinth of derivatives which can "wag the dog" of the underlying commodity in some markets to the currencies themselves being diluted at an unprecedented rate. The barriers to entry are too high for most individuals, because you have massive players playing for huge amounts of absolute wealth which since it is so over-levered cannot move more than a few percentage points at a time. Cryptocurrencies are like a black hole that is sucking everything out of this system and they are still very small. They do this because their ownership properties are much more advantageous, than the over-regulated legacy system, and the insane returns are raising awareness.
