Consider who trades on your exchange. If there are a lot of asians, of course they'll be active when you're asleep because that's when they're awake (provided you live in the western world).
I for one started a sleep schedule from 4am to 11am USA time so I can trade among the chinese. Then I wake up and catch the americans.
