I think the MIL is fucking us out of an inheritance. We learned from a divorced ex member of the family that there is a Grandfather trust consisting of 1 property and some other stuff which we are not sure off, which should pass to the Grandchildren at some specified point. Nobody we ask in the family is forthcoming with the trust/will documents when we ask them, they either play dumb or tell us to ask somebody else.
We are in California and I understand that I can get most will/trust/deed/affidavit types docs from the county where they are filed. This takes a little time/cash but is an easy first step.
But I'm not sure of the best way forward, so need your advice please. For example should I just go straight to a local probate lawyer?
