He felt threatened when he was bullied by the government when he was in a libertarian party when he was young.
He became anti government after that.
Then he dumped 25k in BTC when it was under a dollar and the rest is history.

Say what you will about him, he is somewhat crazy I admit, but when governments tell you what to do/and not to do it messes you up.
