Besides speculating and gambling and lending to people speculating and gambling
What use does crypto have?
Alt coins get pumped then dumped, but what purpose do they ever serve?
Other than buying illegal shit, I just don't see the value

It has value because people pay for the coins at a certain price. That's all that really matters in this world, literally. The EUR has it's value because of how much people are willing to buy it for. Gold has it's value because of what people are willing to buy it for. If tomorrow, literally everyone buying gold wanted to buy at half it's price... guess what, gold would go down by half.
I think all these coins are worthless too and never justify their insane market caps for how shitty they are. Doesn't mater what I think if the person next to me is throwing their money at it.

The EUR has government and militaries supporting it
Gold has value as a resource, but I agree it's speculation and has been controlled similar to crypto anyway. I don't trust hold either

the fact that you can openly send money on a decentralized network much more quickly and cheaper then regular means has no value...yes nothing to see here... move on

If everyone in the world would only exchange in EUR for half of it's current value, it would go down by half. Doesn't matter how big their army is, or how much the queen's nudes are worth.
I'm not discounting your /intrinsic value/, it's just not at all necessary to understand the basics in why thing have value. I agree with both of your statements.

Store of value. Invisible money. Neither your government or your girlfriend needs to know. You own your money, not the government.
