So ethereum came out in 2014 and took until early 2016 to reach 1B market cap. Now there are coins that have been around less than a month that are valued at more than 1B. What happened? Why was capital raised so quickly for the newer coins?

I feel like theres some critical insight to be gained here that will help me make more money if I understand it.
