You'll hear and see that prices are relatively high so you might have to do work to find better deals.

But stick with hardy established companies that pay dividends. Ones that society can't run without like infrastructure, food, maybe entertainment. So water and energy companies, big agriculture and maybe something between IT and Hollywood.

Depending on where you trade, watch for fees and make larger trades if you can so you don't spend as much. I try to cover my fees with the first round of dividends.

US or Europe?

Yes, because minimums and fees and speed are different.

Robinhood is the cheapest (US only), but they're slow so you can't daytrade.
eToro is fast but expensive (EU only).
Interactive Brokers is the best all-around but requires $10k minimum.

Also make sure you get a referral link from someone who is verified and has deposited for free money when you sign up.
