The very very very worst thing that can happen is that the sender would oay 0 tx fees and no one includes your tx therefore in a block. In that case it would sit for 2 weeks in the mempool but then it would get cancelled and be available to the sender again

If that is the case, if you send another transaction to or from the wallets involved but put the transaction fees very high, the second one will pay for the first and both will go through at the same time.
