No. Oddly enough when Bitcoin is stable altcoins will go up.

This is because me selling BTC for ETH means someone else is buying BTC for his ETH, so the value of BTC is not affected.

It's like saying that because I bought a pizza with my USD, I've slightly lowered the value of USD. But that's not true.
