But generally after people buy BTC, they'll buy alts with that BTC, so they go up, but on longer timescales.
Overall, BTC going up will drive alts up, but there are transients when it gets rocket-stomped.

Comparatively the effect is the same. Profiting or missing out on BTC. But several alts didn't actually go down when adjusted for BTC's USD rise.
