Actually in this case Ledger Wallet is better, they have a working BCH wallet implemented. AFAI Trezor screwed up their implementation.

Yes the Nano S can transact in BCH. look here for instructions.

whats wrong with a simple USB stick in a safe?
>>
>>2954898
it doesn't cost as much

then why not just a good usb stick
I mean in the end you're just storing a private key

is it so, that you cant transact Bitcoin Cash from your wallet to exchange now?
>>

Hardware wallets allow you to create and sign transactions internally on their hardware. This protects your private key from exposure even if your computer is compromised. To achieve the same level of security with a plain USB you'd have to:

1. Restore your wallet on an air-gapped (not connected to the internet) computer which you trust
2. Create and sign the transaction
3. Transfer the transaction onto a USB
4. Import the transaction onto a "hot" (connected to the internet and possibly compromised) computer and broadcast it

If you're just holding long-term a simple paper wallet will give you the same if not better security than a fancy hardware wallet. But if you're moving bitcoin frequently it may be worthwhile to purchase a hardware wallet for convenience sake. Keep in mind also that this should only be a consideration if you hold AT LEAST 1 full bitcoin - otherwise the cost simply is not worth it.

It's only worth mentioning that hardware wallets KNOW you're using them to secure bitcoin so you must trust the company you purchase the devices from or be able to independently verify the integrity of the device. Using an air-gapped machine seems safer for this reason although certainly less convenient.
