If you have monero, zcash, dash, etc, get those out first. bitcoin can be traced and poloniex accounts blacklisted if they exit scam. You likely wont get your coins back but at least they will have a harder time spending them.

Since it's entirely down, they may be under ddos attack..shut down to stop a hack..or just server crashed. No clue, but for their popularity and lack of staff, it's not destined to be a long running exchange until they scale themselves up

Bittrex doesn't have a ticker stream in their API.
You have to spam requests to get price updates, which is pretty shitty considering there's a soft cap on how many API calls you can make per minute.

Yeah, but it's not just tickers you need to update, there's also orderbooks as well as wallet updates and posting trades every now and then.
Also, it's not 5 per second, it's much less then that. I remember when I was implementing their API that I was regularly getting "rate limit exceeded" while making around 2 calls per second.

The last mention of any call limit was from 2014 when they said they'll allow "low" throttling as long as you did 1 call per sec or less
