i had more side effects on modafinil, everyones different but armodafinil was much better for me. i take 150mg Sun Pharma brand armoda.
only real side effects were headache, lack of appetite, and insomnia if i took it too late in the day.
take it in the morning and try and get a meal in before or directly after, to minimize the side effects.

be warned though, modafinil is a weird drug.

i take modafinil on a near-daily basis, and have for about 18 months. about 5 days a week.

while it is a stimulant its effects are really different and sometimes hard to recognize, both physically and psychologically, and you have to recognize that going in.

a lot of what we consider "stimulant effects" are literally synonymous with amphetamine-class drugs, and modafinil is not an amphetamine.

so you get weird effects like perceived hunger in a lot of people - modafinil gives you a kind of physical anxiety that many takers perceive as hunger. which seems bizarre for a stimulant, and is for amphetamine class, but not for moda.

that's one example, but if you do start taking moda just remember even though it's seemingly "softer" than amphetamine class drugs it fucks with your mind at least as much, and you definitely need to moderate your dosage and take a few days off a week. i've done months daily and it really starts to mess with your head in subtle ways.

unlike probably OP and most /underthetable/ users i actually did get a script for it, and because doctors are really blase to all of the effects of adderrall, etc. they'll prescribe it for daily use by default.

so i actually had to discover for myself all the adverse effects of daily use and how to moderate it.

but yeah, you're right. moda really is best taken sparingly, probably even more sparingly than adderrall because it can be so unexpectedly wonky.

yeah the thing about modafinil is that it doesn't affect your dopamine (i.e. risk/reward) system in the same way as adderall. so whereas with adderall you'll either gonna end up jerking off for 4 hours or getting tons of shit done (let's be honest, probably the former), with modafinil you have to self-direct more. i'd be a little restless, but i could definitely just sit on my ass and watch TV on modafinil, with adderall, no way. it's softer in that sense.

so, the trick is is it isn't the doctor himself it's the approach. most doctors are pretty based and kinda seen-it-all mentality (as long as not young or female, i.e. get an older male doctor). as long as you give them a reason they can half-believe in and work up a bit of personal rapport with them, they'll be happy to write you pretty much anything except opiates.

just find an older, male (same race helps, obviously) doctor and see him once or twice for general shit over maybe 4-8 weeks and then say you're tired all the time or maybe you're not feeling yourself. modafinil is scripted for shift work, i.e. if you're a night worker, because its primary purpose is a wakefulness agent. off-label, it's also scripted for atypical depression, which is a more difficult sell, but just work up a vibe with him and ask him about it.

yeah if you're still reading this thread, also know that just because a particular medicine is "scripted" for a particular thing doesn't mean that's what you have to "prove" to the doctor to get it. doctors have lots of leeway to do "trials" of drugs to see if it helps their patients, as long as it's not a crazy drug (i.e. schedule 1/2 and/or opioid), which modafinil is not, it's schedule 4, which is very mellow in the eyes of doctors and the FDA, so, i noticed you may be british, but i'm sure it's not super different, just don't feel like you need to feel illicit for asking about moda, it's much less abuse prone than even adderall is.
