It's just a trust precaution.
Giving any wallet your private key for BCC also gives it your BTC key.
Since you already trust your current BTC wallet program or site enough to use it, you can safely move it off to another wallet using that.
That way at least your BTC is guaranteed safe. Even if your BCC choice turns out SOMEHOW malicious.
