I haven't looked into the exact numbers, so discard my opinion right now, however these claims tend to be predicated on the idea of:

"If I start with X millions, and exhibit perfect market timing, I would have Y amount in 50 years".

In real life someone given tonnes of money (which Trump didn't get), they would likely attempt to invest at a bad time, see a loss of 30%, and then when the market picks up again, their starting point is dramatically reduced.

The fact Trump is an undisupted billionaire with a multitude of business ventures across various industries sort of proves he is decent at business. It just isn't easy to make that much money.

As a never Trumper his opinion is easily discarded as extremely biased
