A bank or large hedge fund has an opportunity to make enormous money off this, there's 40,000 open short positions on BTC, if someone were to buy a few hundred million worth of BTC they could cause them all to get liquidated creating a buying frenzy that could drive the price to 4k or 5k for a few hours.
