Normally yes, but coinbase is not going to give out BCC last I heard.

well, BCC is a joke... but in the unrealistic chance that i am wrong, download the BTC electrum wallet.... it is lightweight af, and gives you the private keys to you address (ie: you actually own your coins) - send BTC to that address anytime you purchase from coinbase.
again, you probably do not need to worry about this, but it is best practice to keep you coins in a walet that you own, so it wont hurt to just figure this out before aug 1
