ive recently set up a new business and i'm starting to get calls from our landing pages
however, I am finding it hard to pick up the phone due to some sort of anxiety.
it's pathetic and embarrassing but have you ever experienced not wanting to talk to strangers on the phone especially when it is an 'important' call that could lose you business if you fuck up?
how do I get over this because it is frustrating as fuck.
Call 20 different wrong numbers in a row asking for Fred. By the end you won't give a shit.

>some sort of anxiety.
I'm sure this is just a semantic difference, but it's not anxiety. Push that from your mind. You're nervous because you're inexperienced.
Good telephone etiquette and being able to respond on the fly is a skill, a pretty trivial one, but still something that is learned and improved. Doing more of it will improve it. It definitely helps to ensure you are in a solid position to answer those calls. Spend an hour writing out a list of scenarios that customers may ask for and quickly address how your business would cater to them. Knowing the ins and outs of the business is 95% of the task. The other 5% is just verbalising it, that only comes with practice and balls to pick up a phone.
You'll get better with time. Everyone does. Just memorise what you COULD have to say to avoid minimise slip ups that knock the confidence.

Hire your 15 year old Nephew to answer the phone and pay him 3 dollars an hour and let him borrow your dodge stratus on the weekends to fuck bitches in.

OP, I have struggled all my life with phone anxiety. I even find it difficult to pick up the phone to talk to relatives. I found that what worked for me was getting a bluetooth headset so that I can do other things while I talk on the phone. It might sound crazy but once I have my hands free and I'm doing laundry or washing my car or sweeping the floor while talking to the person then suddenly it doesn't seem so stressful and I can relax.

this is exactly how I got over multiplayer videogames. I joined shitfests like minecraft and team fortress 2 and just let people kill my character. After a while, playing the game didn't make me nervous when I wasn't doing good.
Anyone have that greentext of a guy working customer service taking a call with some big shot CEO and his whole legal team while being stoned but he does pretty well?
