It would never happen unless we had a single government. Even Then, we would have to think beyond Earth to establish a single universal currency accepted everywhere. Earth is tiny in the grand scheme and maybe one day when we are managing colonies on other planets we will realize how small Earth is and strive towards goals as a singular humanity. Greed will probably make sure that never happens
