Babbys first apartment. Do I really need to pay gas utility? The stove is electric, so is the gas utility just for heating? I prefer a very cold apartment so I think I can live without that. >$100/mo seems like a waste.

Take the Spartan pill anon.

I have electric A/C, etc. I don't use it. Also turned off my water heater.

All that shit does is make you weaker.

When I wake up in the middle of January, butt naked, and see that it's 8F in my room, I feel alive.

When I wake up drenched in sweat, and my mattress is soaked, because it's 98F and 100% humidity in my room, I feel like an animal, because I am an animal.

You don't know what mental clarity is like until you've taken an ice cold shower in the middle of February.

Take the Spartan pill, anon, and don't look back.
>>
>>2807673

If relative humidity rises above around 80% mold will start growing because water will condense out of the air. At the very least if your area's humidity is not at that level you have to have ventilation.
>>
>>2807751

Yeah, I took the spartan pill. eventually mold will grow everywhere especially where air can't circulate. Given you are not heating I'll bet you don't open the windows and if its cold the air will carry a lot of moisture indoors.
>>
>>2807793
Just keep the windows open when you're at home
>>
>>2807793
I live in an old house that was built and not really renovated since long before A/C. It's fine. A nice constant breeze blows through it.
>>
>>2807673
I don't know elsewhere but here if there's no minimum usage then they don't charge you anything
>>
>>2807835
In Germany they will.
Base cost for supply
Additional for any usage
>>
>>2807847
germany is a meme country please don't tell us about your retarded rules
>>
>>2807847
Gotta pay for those all those refugees on permanent welfare and all their criminal activities somehow, eh?
>>
>>2807751
wow mental clarity is so simple, a caveman could do it!

>spend february on a warm beach with friends instead

You know why humans who've evolved near the equator never did anything worthwhile, and are to this very day, incapable of civilization?

Because they didn't want to leave the warmth.

Stay weak faggot.
>>
>>2807883
I don't think it's money for gobermint, it's probably like what we have in Britain, transport fees. Money to pay for gas transporters and meter maintainance. Some companies (like the one I work for) don't have that tho, and just make up for the costs through things like two rate tariffs or just straight-up from the normal usage prices
>>
>>2807673
And if you need heat just put a miner in your living room
>>
>>2807931
That's the first time I have seen someone express that observation aside from me. Looking historically, no African nation has ever reached any sort of civilization, and the friendly, non-challenging climate can be attributed to their lack of growth, evolvment or progress of any kind.
They've literally been living in the same huts for tens of thousands of years while European civilization has reached the moon.
>>
>>2808124
There's no reason for them not to. There wasn't even any reason for them to have agriculture until we showed up and started vaccinating them. Sub-Saharan Africa is incredibly fertile and productive, and food is always available, there was never a need to develop beyond thinking of the now. They never had to plan for winter or even the next day, and their native languages reflect this by not having words to describe the passage of time -- in the cases where those words do exist, they were added after colonization. Even when Africans adopt other languages, they often use them in such a way that hints at a lack of understanding with regards to the passage of time. Abstract concepts, like a "promise", completely elude them in their European meaning, which makes sense in this context as a "promise" requires an understanding of the future.

It's all very simple and should be obvious to anyone who isn't brainwashed otherwise.

do you think you're personally evolving because you take cold showers my dude?

your point sucks ass when you realize that people still keep their bodies relatively warm in any climate lmao. hey as long as you're happy, stay poor.
>>
>>2808124
This is a very common idea though. People who moved north had to invent things and adapt, etc.
>>
>>2807704
I've seen some cool options for solar water heaters that you hang outside of your kitchen window. I've also seen people make do-it-yourself versions. The water will never be super hot, but it will make cold water tolerable.
>>
>>2807931
And you'd rather live like one of them.
>>
>>2808064
officially it's not government but due to several factors the local energy supplier have a de facto monopoly in each city combined with heavy government involvement both official and unofficial.
>>

>do you think you're personally evolving

for a matter of fact you become a better trader that way.

>do you think you're personally evolving because you take cold showers my dude?
I think we are what we repeatedly do, and so I use hardship and stress to gain strength and wisdom.

What's the point of living without hardship? To die slightly older? For the weakest to live and pass on their genes, so that more weak people will be born? Living simply to die doesn't sound like living to me -- and that's all an easy life really is, living to die.

Some of our greatest minds are constantly harping about how we must do this or that in the near future if we are to survive as a species, or how the entirely speculative threat of AGI is existential to humanity, or how we're poisoning our oceans, or whatever -- but no one ever seems to talk about how we're currently in the process of ruining our genome by propagating weak people against the will of nature.

>your point sucks ass when you realize that people still keep their bodies relatively warm in any climate lmao. hey as long as you're happy, stay poor.
They keep their bodies warm through their intelligence, which wouldn't exist without such needs. Intelligence didn't emerge in an air conditioned cubicle with unlimited food and porn, nor would it. Intelligence is primal, it's rooted in generations of adversity, it's killing power, it's the ability to live beyond the means that your body alone affords you.

Genetic regression is real, and it's happening right now. We're becoming less and less intelligent despite having greater access to knowledge. For instance, the population that founded the United States, that generation is estimated to have been roughly 2 sigma more intelligent than modern whites, who are in turn about 2 sigma more intelligent than Kenyans. To someone of Thomas Jefferson's generation, we'd basically just be niggers.

>For instance, the population that founded the United States, that generation is estimated to have been roughly 2 sigma more intelligent than modern whites

Lol, nope. There's been a pretty notable IQ increase in developed countries of about an IQ point a decade called the Flynn Effect. The average American during the Revolution would have been considered borderline mentally impaired by today's standards.
>>
>>2809128
>Living simply to die doesn't sound like living to me

Then you have a poor understanding of what life is
Because that's what living is
You're born to die and the good feelings you get to experience until that happens are what matter
>>
>>2807793
Retard doesnt know how to open windows lol
>>
>>2810284
Both you and the comment you're replying to are idiots to think IQ is a real measure of anything.
>>
>>2808124
>>2808427
Explain Inuit living like niggers then.
>>
>>2810325
People that try to say IQ doesn't significantly affect anything are likely to be brainlets.

The Flynn Effect is bullshit, because IQ tests aren't comparable across generations -- look at what people did, read their diaries, examine their accomplishments, understand their philosophies. The average American farmer in the 1770s was not only physically and psychologically stronger than you, but could outperform you on any conceivable mental test, and they had a much quicker reaction times.

Assuming you're white, if you could meet one of your 6th-great-grandfathers, he would probably terrify you -- not only in presence and intensity, but in mental acuity; especially if he were an American.

>>2810325
I didn't mention IQ ya dingus.
>>
>>2810373
you can't make something out of nothing.

Europeans didn't create civilization itself but they adopted the concept and improved it drastically.
>>
>>2810373
There are always exceptions.
You can't use them to represent a trend when it's clear that the great majority is different.

It's like saying "well, if you say that the Chinese are on average shorter than Europeans, then explain Yao Ming who's extremely tall".
