If you have a list of all of the private keys that belong to addresses, you have a MASSIVELY smaller list than all of the private keys that could exist. Pair that with existing lists of all existing wallets and it becomes a simple matter of matching each private key to a public one.

Computationally, this is FAR easier than choosing a wallet and attempting to guess its private key. It's still computationally intense, with billions of each public and private keys, but it's a hell of a lot easier than guessing many quintillions of times trying to crack a single wallet's private key.
