asking here because I'm certain one of you knows
Anyway, I ordered an item from an EU country to the US. I did this two weeks ago, and the tracking number I was sent only says "left international shipping center". Normally this wouldn't be a concern however being the dumbass I was I bought this on ebay as a guest which means their system tells me to fuck off every time I try using my guest access code (I got my tracking # via their customer service number). So, since I cannot contact the seller (except by mail, which is unorthodox) I wouldn't be able to know if my shipment has a problem in transit.
Specifically, if my item is held at customs for whatever reason will CBP mail me (the US-based destination address) a notification? I know the USPS does for mail they couldn't deliver for whatever reason.

-log in and contact the seller
-find out which partner company of the original logistics company delivers the parcel to your door in the US and phone them
-I wouldn't trust in customs to notify you about a stuck parcel but sometimes they can take their time to release it
