Selling beta software to normies at the risk of splitting soon, that is the ultimate scam.
Everything but BTC and LTC.
/biz/ knows and realizes they are all scams. We aren't stupid. The game is trying to cash out before the scammers do. It's not dumb to but into a pyramid scheme if you are towards the top.of the pyramid. Ditto if crypto, the equivalent is accumulating when the whales do and dumping before they do.

>he fell for the hardfork meme

LTC is a huge scam, a copy/paste of Tenebrix, no innovation, no special features, at least Peercoin did something innovative by coming up with proof-of-stake, what did Charlie Lee invent?
>>2738714
Sends faster and doesn't get lost by exchanges, and fees aren't obnoxious.
Every single coin is a dishonest scheme (including Bitcoin).

Can we all agree to use a more descriptive word than "scam"? It just doesn't fit when most of these coins are bad investments, not outright scams.
Anything from crypto coderz

Any crypto with non-abstract names that have common recognizable worlds are most likely to be scams (e.g., Unbreakable Coin, Pot Coin, FunFair). They're meant for fooling kids.
More sophisticated scam coins put more effort in tricking people. They have fancy-looking websites, claims of innovation, and attempts in the social media attention.
One of the things all these scams have in common is that communication with the people behind the coin is impossible (or at least very difficult). That's a huge red flag. No business doesn't have contact info. Another red flag is that the team working on the coin are all anonymous. This shows that they're not legit companies and aren't interested in the coin's future, just in a quick-n-dump.
The litmus test is, if the project is open source, when you look at the code repository and notice that the project is only updated a few times in a year with no recent updates.
