I wrote a novel about how an advanced AI built basically an ark colony for humans and chose the best/brightest. Except it also chose one suicidally depressed guy with a low rate of cancer because it wanted to see the difference between smart people depression and dumb people depression. Also because the AI enjoyed human suffering and brought the guy as a pet project.

It just degenerated into advanced suffering as the guy drank himself to death while interacting with geniuses and the AI.
