Totally not fraud if it's politics

I plan on making a quasi-lobby group that solicits both public donations and gov't cheese, but I'm wondering...

Which is better, like a 501c or a normal business tax structure so profits can just be put in an account and not need fiscal-year accounting for.

I mostly plan to talk big and do next to nothing, with like MADD as a goal, but wondering ifeating more taxes is worth the freedom to spend easier.

Seems most semi-fraud type groups like this are caught more on rules violations of non-profits than anything else.
