Hey all,
I'm currently looking for a good, semi-lightweight laptop that I can use 100% for work, take on business trips, show off client products/presentations, can handle asset creation (incl. some image and video editing). Would this be a good deal: https://www.newegg.com/Product/NewProduct.aspx?item=9SIA8S15UZ3741
Thanks in advance.

/g/ NEETs will just shove a thinkpad w/ gentoo down his throat
he clearly needs the advice of /biz/nisemenn
i use a desktop, OP
notebooks for video editing will be painful (either slow or some heavy / loud monster w/ low battery life)
HP Envy 15 inch, x360 or normal one will be fine

A T420 thinkpad is god-tier

Good lookin' out and I appreciate the feedback. I don't do anything super heavy in regards to video editing...the companies I work with outsource for that. I do have a semi-decent desktop already, but I want to separate work from leisure and keep this laptop purely dedicated to work so I can free up my desktop for games and BS social media stuff. Since I work remotely too and can consider myself "self-employed" I can likely include the price of this laptop in my taxes next year. ;P

So between this one and a refurb HP OMEN 15-AX243DX 15.6" on Woot that's going for $790, which to do you think? Personally, I feel the one on Newegg is better and only like $50 more.

Haven't looked at those. Always thought Thinkpads were a little too "business" for my tastes, but I'll certainly look it up. Thank you.

Ah, thank you. Wow, that resolution and processor are a little lower than I'd want to consider. Might be good for powering through the MS suite and lots of spread/data crunching though. I do a fair amount of that, but might need a bit more. Again, thank you though.
I love the Dell Precision series, not badly priced for how much power you can get.

There is a high end model you know. Go to Customize. Pick i7 + WQHD.

Dell precision 7510. Get a refurb on ebay. Nice specs and in home service warranty for a couple of years. One of the better pieces of tech I've owned.

Actually not bad, but seems to be about $1.2K, yeah?

Trying to stay in the $800-$900 range. A friend sent this to me earlier. I think it's on Fry's.

I don't know a ton about the inspiron series, as when I was getting a new latop, replaceable components was important to me (coming from a macbook pro that needed a new mobo due to video card damage).
I will say that I picked up a 7510 with i7-6920hq, m1000m, ssd, etc for $850, so they could fit in your range if don't mind looking a little while. That said, you do pay in weight and size to have all the little replaceable/upgradeable components, rather than having everything integrated into the mobo, so if size/weight are a large factor for you, it may not be the best path to go down.

Oh yeah...don't want anything over 5lbs. This is the goddamn beast I currently own. It's getting quite old and at 7.5lbs I absolutely loathe lugging it around tradeshows and other work-related events:
