Nice anon. What kind of space do you have them in? How much heat does it really produce, and how do you manage it? Not scared of fires?
>>
>>2647483

Yes, it's worth it if you have 100k and a ton of technical know-how. You'd be better off just trading, OP. Almost all sites lie about profit ratios for gpus/asics so they can sell you shit.
>>
>>2649841
Frames are 1x2 select pine. I just use them because they are prefinished. No splinters or shit. Framing is done with pocket holes and 18g staples. The boards the mobo and PCI risers sit on are strips of half inch birch plywood.

>>2649854
20 rigs taking into account power, cooling, not too much OC, proper air flow, would net about 11-14k a month, depending on market of course.
>>
>>2649868
I keep 5 at home for testing and deployment purposes. Others get put in an insulated cold room offsite after they've proven reliability and I don't have issues with OS, GPUs, or risers.

Electricity was the only fun/annoying part. The shitskins that built my house put fucked circuits and wiring in, so I dropped in a 240v 20A line. Took all the rigs and put it on the dedicated 240v line.

Heat isn't really an issue. 3.4 BTU (average)per watt used. Math makes cooling easy.
>>
>>2650001
>>2650001
how to calculate wattage and amperage in a thread ? (example: 240v 20amps can make you run 2kw/h) thanks bro, sorry for my bad english
>>
>>2650037
I test every rig with a watt meter. With my OC settings, each rig averages 800w.

800w x 5 rigs = 4000w

20A 240v breaker is good for 4800w (AMP x VOLT = WATTAGE)

Always leave approx 20% of your breakers potential unused. Always use proper wire for the circuit you run.

1. Do you solo mine or pool?
2. Where do you live? Country?
3. How much is your electricity?

I don't think it would be nearly profitable enough in Australia, our electricity prices are absurdly high.

Pool mine. Ethermine. Less volatility (randomness) equals more consistent payouts in the end due to decrease in uncle blocks mined.

USA - I'm bouncing between 11.2 and 11.6 cents per kilowatt hour, right at the national average.

The #1 guy on nanopool has 1200 rigs hashing at 120mh each.

When eth was a $240 he made half a million dollars a month and $12 per minute.

They're the next thing if you want to mine siacoin, for example. Check out their Twitter, they wrote a good article on why the ended up choosing ASIC mining over GPU mining.
>>

I'm going to keep asking this until I get a response:

What coin are all the GPU miners going to start mining once Ethereum goes PoS?
>>
>>2653882
https://whattomine.com/
>>
>>2653882
As someone whos looking to get into mining, I'm very interested in the answer to this as well.
>>
>>2653882
Other Ethash coins like

musicoin/ETC/Expanse/ubiq

But the Dif would outrun the Price probly on those coins
>>
>>2653882
They'll be mining a third type of ethereum, lol. You'll have ETH PoS, ETH PoW, and ETC.
>>
The problem with PoS is that it's impossible to reach a consensus about contentious issues about the protocol itself. Consider the case of the DAO hack. If Ethereum had been PoS back then and the chain was hard-forked then all stake-holders would have had exactly the same number of coins on both chains and therefore equal staking power on both chains. There would have been nothing to give one chain precedence over the other. But the fact that there was the real-world power of hash-rate meant that miners could throw their weight behind a particular chain and that was the legitimate one. In the PoS case you could have kept splitting it indefinitely and recursively, constantly diluting the legitimacy of people's stake.

I agree >>2653933
that there will be a PoW-PoS split and the legitimate branch will be the one with the most hash-power, which will be PoW by default.

So the only option for PoS is to have a way of adjusting the protocol in an on-chain fashion (like Tezos proposes to do). Or to have PoW, not necessarily a hashing PoW, Burst is one of the smarter alternatives I've seen.
>>
What OS do you guys use for your rigs?
