For the last 5 years I've worked as a ghost writer and I'm looking to get an actual regular job. Problem is people frown on what I do during interviews and it's impossible for them to them in the first place. The thing is I've actually become a pretty competent technical writer. I've gone from writing college freshman papers to putting together study proposals and complex technical papers. But I have this massive hole in my resume and no way to explain my skill set. I have a bachelors degree in business administration and have earned other students 4 masters degrees and 8 bachelors degrees. I'm educated. I don't want to do this anymore. How do I escape my job my fellow /biz/nessman?
No good advice?
what do you want to do now? just go and apply for that or go to school for it.
I have a degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing. I just want to know a way to get a foot in the door. What's a good company? How can I fix my resume? What do I do about references? I've tried just applying, but my sketch job has gotten me few interviews, and it usually disqualifies me.

Just tell them you used E-lance or some other free lancing network and thats how you supported yourself. Have examples of your work ready to demonstrate it.
Could also try to go for an MBA or something but you'd still have to talk about your background.
I have a similar struggle in that I just received my Master's, but my work history looks like Swiss cheese. A few months here, six months there...
My only offer so far has been to work on a drilling rig...
