Can someone explain to me what this means for Dash?
It has ~4500 active masternodes.
Dash thread? Thoughts on Dash? Hardly ever see it mentioned here. How does it compare to similar projects like Decred?

So what will it mean when the maximum amount of master nodes are reached? Any effect on price speculations?

The reason I asked is because I've been doing some research on it. Seems like a pretty solid coin through be told. Not that many coins in existence, competent dev team, already has a few places using it as payment as opposed to coins with similar market caps like NEM. Probably also going to be the next coin added on Coinbase I bet.

My opinion is that a dash master node now costs $200k. The higher the master node cost, the more impossible it will be for average people to be interested, since they'd never have a chance to earn subsidy from staking. Furthermore, master node owners control the project and would want to keep their monopoly. Adoption leads to increased price so this makes me think the growth of dash is self limiting. Compare to Decred where someone can start staking for around $1600. Much more normie friendly and thus more likely to spur growth, short term and long term. However both projects can change themselves over time.

Does seem solid. Not gonna 10x in a week but isn't going to lose much value save for a crypto catastrophe.

Yeah for sure I see what you're getting at but it would seem to me like the average person (normie) would only be interesting in owning the actual coins instead of understanding what a master node is let alone spending $1600 on one wouldn't you think?

Eh. I'm super pumped about decred, and one of the main reasons is that I can effectively earn 20-30% interest a year without having to invest that much. That seems very normie attractive to me. It also encourages hodling. However I'd switch to dash if I thought it it was better. Interested to hear what others think.

Also DCR uses something like a short term cash deposit system instead of running a node. Bump. Surely there are others on this board interested in non-shitcoins?
