Why link your debit card when linking your bank account let's you transfer 5k a week? The money comes from the same checking account.

Gdax is the exchange behind coinbase. When you buy thru coinbase it actually just sets an order at market price through gdax.

I just transfer 5k weekly so I always have some money in there. I don't need to spend it all, but yes the transfer time is a bit of a pain in the ass.

Yes it's the most optimal way. I think it only costs like $20 to transfer 5k, instead of nearly 10% buying through coinbase with a card.
