Should I buy GTX 1070s for $400 each and mine? Is mining worth it? People say they're impossible to buy, but they're in stock at my local massive electronic store in a large urban area...? Am I missing something
When ETH goes PoS will GPUs be worthless or can I still mine other coins?

Mining with GPUS are long gone. YOu need alot of money and special equipment.

Mining eth with GPUs is perfectly viable; it's why AMD 480/580s are all sold out rn.

wondered the same thing. my only concern was when eth goes pos everyone will switch to another gpu mined coin and rape the difficulty

wtf are you talking about? I grabbed some old GPUs I had lying around (some 290s and a 470) and Im making 500 a month passively by running some outdated GPUs 24/7.

You can still mine DGB with gaming rigs I think, but yeah, ETH is soon out of the question. Full PoS shit doesn't require GPU at all.
However, if all the ICOs actually turn out not to be a huge Ponzi, your GPU will probably be of use to rent in Golem network or a similar kind of project. Ultimately we're supposed to move past the currency mining thing so don't get too attached to it as a lifestyle(talking 10+ years here though), and in the future we should be exchanging our idle computing power and idle networks for stuff.

I see
So tl;dr tho do you think it's early enough for my rig to pay for itself if I bought 6 GTX 1070's for $400 each?

If you have some way to ignore the power cost(which is pretty easy if you are small-scale, like in a dorm or something, I used to live in an apt with power included because it was 120 year old converted mansion with only 1 meter for 4 units) anyway yea you can easily make a few bucks a day in a multi-pool. It is a get rich slow scheme, but it is a good way to get crypto if you live in a country with no exchange.

shut the fuck up about mining you stupid fucks

Seeing how you are fuckem moron who can't read. No

His post did not conclusively answer my response question yes or no in any way, so saying I can't read is a bit of a non sequitur.
