daytrading with crypto is regular trading on steroids. You're in a volatile market with low competition, low volume, and low arbitage with some coins not even being on other exchanges. You also have market depth for free, low, low fees, and stop orders/leverage if you want them.
There's no reason not to trade. If you're shit at trading don't do it, but this is literally the easiest market to trade in the history of mankind.

My summer job fell thru last minute and daytrading cryptos is all I have to pay my bills and potentially develop some seed money to long-term invest with in a few years. Is it still a bad idea for me to do this? I like the gains I've got with some HODLing but I need to see some daily gainz.

All I have to say is, if you're buying some coin for a quick 2-3% gain, make sure there's ample desire for the volume you have to sell off.

Learned the hard way when a coin I dropped 1.8k on jumped up 5%, but the asks were for fractions of my total volume. Lost 11% total. Still hurts.
